How to catch Common Bluebottle

Use the Insect Net. The exact approach depends on the creature’s category and, for shore-dwellers, its species type.

1. Equip the Insect Net and approach the creature at eye level or on the ground.
2. Most insects can be caught with a simple net swipe; slow down if the species is skittish.
3. Check tree trunks, flowers, shrubs, crops and aerial spaces — the habitat column tells you where this species spawns.

Where and when to find it

Habitat: Aerial. Distribution: All Regions.

Season: Year-Round. Time: All Day. Weather: Any Weather. If two of those tags are restrictive, check the creature tracker before you set out.

The pupa of the bluebottle butterfly will mimic the appearance of camphor tree leaves.

However, bluebottles do not exclusively choose camphor trees for pupation. But in terms of the bluebottle species' population, slight "mismatches" in pupal camouflage seem to be quite acceptable.
