Quality and star rating both affect the sale price. MAX-size catches have a glowing aura.

Use the Fishing Rod. The exact approach depends on the creature’s category and, for shore-dwellers, its species type.

  1. Cast the Fishing Rod into the right water: rivers and lakes for freshwater fish, coastal waters for saltwater fish.
  2. Wait for the nibbles, then strike when the line bites down.
  3. Higher-quality saltwater fish need a slow reel-in. Keep the line from snapping instead of holding the button down.

First catch: the creature is added to the Omnidex. Offer it to Mors at the Omni-Gallery to put it on display and unlock its Omnipedia entry.

Habitat: Lowland Lake. Distribution: Islet Specialty from Taffeh Zone T31 — this is an islet specialty, so plan it into a Starsea Voyage rather than a planet sweep..

Season: Year-Round. Time: Nighttime. Weather: Any Weather. If two of those tags are restrictive, check the creature tracker before you set out.

Warmwater Zone · Erpetoichthys calabaricus

The rope fish belongs to the Polypteriformes order, whose species are quite different from what we typically think of as "fish" from the ray-finned group.

The rope fish can "stand" using its pectoral fins and breath air directly. With its elongated body and subtle fins, it looks more like snake than a fish.

But don't worry—accidentally stepping on one won't make you jump at the sight of ropes for the next ten years.
