Petit Planet Multiplayer & Cross-Save: What Is Confirmed
What Petit Planet's social features actually do: visiting planets, privacy settings, cross-save and the parts HoYoverse has not detailed yet.
In this guide
Petit Planet is a social life sim, but it is not an MMO. The core loop is your planet. Other players visit, interact and leave; you do not share a persistent open world.
That distinction matters because “multiplayer” can mean very different things. Here is the confirmed/reported split.
Confirmed by HoYoverse
- The game has social features and is marketed around visiting other Planet Tenders’ planets.
- The Final Beta included privacy controls for visits (public, friends-only or private, according to beta coverage and player reports).
- With the same HoYoverse account, game data carries over between PC and mobile. The official Final Beta FAQ states this explicitly.
- The game is online-only; an internet connection is required.
Beta observations
These are from the Final Beta and press/community coverage, not a final feature list:
- Players can visit other planets, browse shops and interact with the owner.
- Visitors can chat and use social actions.
- Some resources can be harvested or interacted with during a visit.
- The Galactic Bazaar acts as a social hub with minigames and special NPCs.
- The feature set is still described by testers as lighter than a full co-op progression system.
Treat those as “what the beta showed,” not “what launch guarantees.”
Cross-save and cross-play
Cross-save: Yes, in the sense that the same HoYoverse account carries progress between PC and mobile. The official FAQ describes data carrying over when you log in with the same account.
Cross-play: The game supports social visits across platforms, but HoYoverse has not published a detailed cross-play matrix. We do not claim PC–mobile–console parity because there is no console version announced.
Cross-progression limits: The Final Beta bound test access to specific devices. That was a test-security measure, not a launch account restriction. Do not assume the beta’s device-binding rules apply to the launch game.
What multiplayer is good for
- Showing off a decorated planet. The house and garden are the point.
- Shopping. Visiting other planets can expose you to different shop rotations.
- Social play. Chatting, reactions and shared activities.
- Collection bragging rights. A full Omni-Gallery is meant to be seen.
What it is not
- Not a shared open world.
- Not a combat co-op mode.
- Not a competitive ladder.
- Not a replacement for single-player progression.
If you want a game to play with a friend every evening, Petit Planet can be a cozy shared space, but it is not a co-op campaign.
Privacy and safety
The Final Beta included visit privacy settings. Use them. If you are streaming or sharing your planet, check what visitors can interact with before you open it.
HoYoverse’s community guidelines apply to in-game chat and visits. The official support email for account issues is listed on the sources page.
What is still unknown
- The exact launch-day privacy options.
- Whether every beta social activity returns.
- Whether cross-play has region restrictions.
- Whether visitors can modify anything on your planet.
- The final friends-list and invite flow.
We will update this page when HoYoverse publishes launch details. Until then, the honest answer is: the social layer is real, but the launch feature set is not fully documented.
